So what is the difference between a shoulder strap and a sling? Well fr me it is this. A shoulder strap attaches directly to your camera. When you lift your camera up the strap moves around your body to compensate. A sling, on the other hand, has a fixed body strap and the camera is attached on a sliding fitting. When you ift your camera up to take your shot the fitting slides up the strap keeping the wider shoulder pad in place.
